This has been a long and hard road for Fiji but the 2014 elections offers all of Fiji the chance to have their say as to who should lead Fiji. It is not the ideal situation or legal, but its the only viable option we have now. No one is coming to save us from the bainimarama and khaiyum dictatorship. So the 2014 elections are our best option.
If you do not vote, then you are giving bainimarama and Khaiyum a better chance of wining the elections and claiming to the world that they are the legitimate rulers of Fiji. If this happens then you can bet your last dollar that Fiji will experience total dictatorship over your lives and so much more corruption than what you are experiencing now in Fiji. And you wont be able to do a thing about it. Bainimarama and Khaiyum will be in the "legal" position to do whatever they want, whenever they want and for the next 40 years or so, or until the people finally rise up and say enough is enough! This horrid journey started off with Bainimarama’s controversial appointment to Commander RFMF, over more senior, more highly qualified and more experienced army officers. This was followed by Bainimarama's sedition and treason in May 2000 when Bainimarama ordered Fiji’s elite forces, the CRW, into parliament to overthrow the democratically elected Government. The CRW had been sent in under a “LIE” that it was only a training exercise. It was not a training exercise. It was a coup. The CRW soldiers were pawns in Bainimarama’s elaborate plans to rule Fiji. Bainimarama's plan failed so he falsely accused the CRW and had them arrested, beaten and imprisoned. Bainimarama continued his lies and scheming to rule Fiji and also attempted to manipulate the more qualified and experienced senior military officers into planning the overthrow of Government. The officers stood their moral ground and objected, advising Bainimarama against it. So Bainimarama had them all removed and replaced with gullible and less qualified officers who easily believed in his lies and supported his conniving plans to overthrow the government. This trend continues today with Bainimarama appointing often unqualified family and friends to senior government positions. Bainimarama’s evil plans finally succeeded in his coup of December 2006. After which he made lots of false promises that included holding free and fair elections within a year and that no military officer would benefit from his coup, etc. Time revealed that they were all lies! Some senior army officers questioned Bainimarama's corruption and were subsequently removed. The people of Fiji, however, with the help of blog sites, information received from relatives living abroad, and their educated children have become more aware of Bainimarama’s character, his talent for lying and his evil conniving plans to stay in power and out of prison, and to steal their native lands. To make matters worse Bainimarama took on a highly corrupt and vile partner, Khaiyum. Together they have been stealing from the people of Fiji and stealing in the name of Fiji. Meanwhile, gullible and not so moral senior military officers “watch their back”. Col Pio Tikoduadua, Col Mosese Fisher/Tikoisuva, Col Langman, Col Suliano and others turn a blind eye while their soldiers beat-up and torture anyone, including grandmothers, who were brave enough to question Banimarama and Khaiyum’s illegal and corrupt activities. This unfortunately is all part of the so called "better Fiji" under Bainimarama and Khaiyum. Bainimarama and Khaiyum's track record has painted a picture filled with insulting native Fijians, intimidation, beatings, torture, murder, corruption, free-rides, multiple salaries, land theft, and more lies. BUT despite all of Bainimarama and Khaiyum’s lies, track record and evidence against them of sedition, treason, and murder. Despite all this, there is a still some who suggest that the 2014 elections will go ahead and that it will be “free and fair”. Even after all the evidence to suggest that, if held, the 2014 elections will not be free and fair in any true since of the word. But this school of thought, however deluded it may seem, highlights a key point. The 2014 elections should happen and we must ensure that it is free and fair and that everyone does vote. This is the best available option. Many believe that SODELPA, formerly SDL, will win hands down in an election. Some go even further to suggest that SODELPA will then just simply remove Bainimarama and khaiyum from power. This part is ridiculous and deluded. Bainimarama and khaiyum both have too much to lose so they cant just give up. To suggest otherwise is nuts? Or is there some planned offer for Bainimarama and Khaiyum and their family and friends to live happily ever after in Fiji with total immunity and with access to all their stolen millions…… But will Bainimarama still remain commander of the military? To give it up means he loses his key support and can then be arrested. So this scenario is unlikely. But why would Bainimarama and Khaiyum simply give up or agree to any such offer or plan, if it existed, especially when they are literally getting away with murder, treason, land theft and corruption right now! On their own terms! To simply give up will mean certain arrest and imprisonment for both Khaiyum and Bainimarama, even death. So why would they just simply give up? They will not. The international community won’t apply hard sanctions, out of fear of antagonising China, and they have already started to cave in by relaxing sanctions and allowing Khaiyum to travel freely to Australia, albeit secretly. At they same time, they are pouring in millions to aid the election. So will this mean that if the people of Fiji vote against Bainimarama and Khaiyum, Australia and New Zealand will then make the case to force Bainimarama out from power? Hmmm…. this would be nice. Maybe then, Australia and New Zealand could impose hard sanctions to quickly force the junta into handing over power to a civilian government, as was the case after the 1987 coup. But relinquishing power will have dire consequences for both Bainimarama and Khaiyum and their group of corrupt family and friends. Unless they are given asylum in Australia or elsewhere, with access to all the loot they stole from Fiji. Not quite the “asylum” a lot of us have in mind, but none the less, it will end dictatorship and oppression in Fiji. But what if Bainimarama and Khaiyum lose the election as most people are predicting, and they object to it in a similar way they did with the draft constitution that was prepared by two leading world experts that they had commissioned – Prof Yash Ghai and Prof Christina Murray. They rejected the draft because it did not give them the immunity and other provisions they so desperately needed, but had been rejected by the people in over 7,000 submissions. In this case it means another coup! So what will the international community do then, if there is another coup? Will they take a stand and apply tougher sanctions or will they just start another round of more talks until the cows home, or until Bainimarama is removed by the people of Fiji. Another school of thought strongly suggests that dictators can only successfully be removed via a revolution by the people, for the people. Irrespective of whether it is done peacefully or via other means, it MUST be done BY the people. History also supports this school of thought. Those who have been brave enough to stand-up to Bainimarama have been brutally shut down by military thugs and no one went to their aid or joined them in their cause. Some even laughed at them while they themselves hid, too afraid to do anything. Thousands of warriors and supporters stood by and watched, unsure of what to do, waiting for some one to lead them by the hand – that proverbial light not switching on. But the warriors and supporters do exist, in the hundreds of thousands. All their voices all need to be harnessed into one large and movable force. The 2014 elections offers such a mechanism to bring all your voices together and to show to the world whether you support the dictatorship of Bainimarama and Khaiyum or NOT. If Bainimarama loses the 2014 election, as most people predict, then you will have spoken and the international community can no-longer continue to stand aside and do nothing. Instead, they would be morally obligated to assist the people of Fiji with removing the cancerous dictatorship and oppression from our souls. But if Bainimarama wins, because many of you chose not to vote because it is an illegal process, then you have chosen to live under his dictatorship. Remember, there is no-one coming to help us to remove Bainimarama in the way that many of us would like. The best way to remove the dictatorship is by an uprising by our people but this does not look likely. They are either too scared, too malua or too thick to realise what is happening to them, their children's future and to their country. So the 2014 elections, albeit illegal, is the best option now. So we suggest that everyone get up and vote in the 2014 elections and have your say. Meanwhile, apply lots of pressure to ensure that the election is held in September 2014 and that its is "free and fair" in every true sense of the word, and that it is not being manipulated by ridiculous rules and decrees.
