FijiOne TV reports that journalists have been reminded that their primary role is to gather and disseminate news.
The reports says that Chief Justice Anthony Gates told 70 journalists during a workshop on the 2013 Constitution that they are the front liners of the news industry. Given that how news is sourced has changed, Justice Gates told the journalists of the public’s very high expectations. The report says that Fiji's illegal Attorney General Khaiyum said that such training is crucial and he challenged journalists to improve news content and be analytical. This is Khaiyum preaching lies. ...Yes, Khaiyum says the fancy words, but the reality is that the journalists are not allowed to report actual events as they see it. If they do then they face threats and intimidation and even beatings at the camp. The workshop was facilitated by former High Court judge Nazhat Shameem.
