March 2022This story, about the death of this little child, reinforces the reality of Fiji's broke and poor public health services. Where patients have complained for years about having to supply their own, bedsheets, pillows, utensils, meals, dressings, medicines and even toilet paper!
It's really that bad. Meanwhile, the dictators, PM Bainimarama and AG Sayed-Khaiyum, who created this vile situation through their 16 years of corruption, greed, mismanagement and stupidity get to fly off to Singapore and Australia for their medical treatments at the taxpayer's expense. This is further proof that Frank Bainimarama has made himself "more equal" than others in Fiji. Another NON-Merit appointment, Fiji's Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem, reveals the true value of his on-line Master’s Degree in Electoral Policy and Administration.
NFP leader Prof Biman Prasad delivers the BEST parliamentary comeback!!. [Cartoon inspired by Richard Naidu's FB post]
FBC news reported that in response to Sayed-Khaiyum’s address where he stated that only fools will be those who oppose VAT going to zero on 21 everyday items, Professor Prasad asked who is the fool who opposed their NFP manifesto on zero VAT. That fool is Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. Professor Prasad said that the Minister for Everything Sayed-Khaiyum is short of ideas, which is why he is now taking NFP’s ideas. Prasad adds that some cornerstones of the Minister’s revised Budget are Zero VAT on basic food and consumer items and the big increase in the minimum wage that have been NFP’s policies for years, which Sayed-Khaiyum has ridiculed and criticised. Fiji's military imposed Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho, said that members of the Police Force are in full election preparation mode, which will continue during and post elections because we have a history of people not agreeing with the election results like the events of 1987 and 2000. Oh really!!!
What about 2006! Qiliho deliberately leaves out 2006, the year in which dictator Frank Bainimarama “did not agree” with the last democratically elected govt that did not want him as Fiji’s Commander RFMF, and the then police commissioner was also in the process of arresting him, so he manipulated and used stupid, gullible, military officers [like Qiliho, Seruiratu, Kalouniwai and Pio Tikoduadua] to support him and his coup. Many of these treasonous military officers had quickly been promoted beyond their intellect and capabilities to fill gaps left after Bainimarama had fired the more educated and highly ethical senior army officers a few years earlier. Those senior officers had refused to follow Bainimarama's treasonous orders to plan for the removal of the Qarase government. Bainimarama's 2006 coup set Fiji on a path to rack and ruin to where Fiji is today, a broke nation begging its neighbours and the international community for financial assistance and aid. Meanwhile, Bainimarama and his family became multi-millionaires overnight through corruption and theft. Yes, it's been 16 years of corruption, lies, intimidation, high cost of living, the highest unemployment and nepotism, racism, no rule of law and misery for the people of Fiji. The people are fed-up. They have had enough with all the lies and deceit and want Bainimarama removed. The recent polls support this. But losing is not really an option for the corrupt Bainimarama government, because it could eventually mean a trip to the Naboro Hilton, or something even worse, for many of them, despite their illegal 2013 Constitution that gives them immunity for their crimes that include treason and murder. A new government, led by an opposition party is also likely to uncover all the corrupt practices and lies behind Sayed-Khaiyum and Bainimarama’s many shady projects and deals since 2006. This includes:
Both Bainimarama and Sayed-Khaiyum have too much to lose. So it is highly unlikely that they will simply hand over power to a new government, and put their dirty deals at risk of being found out. They could even run, but their crimes will hunt them down. It's safe to say that Sayed-Khaiyum is well aware of the cost of losing the elections, especially to his own survival, so it's even more likely that he will ensure, by hook or by crook, that he and Bainimarama remain in power. Hence, the voter fraud, rigged elections and dirty tactics used to remove members of the opposition from contesting the elections. A key dirty tactic for Khaiyum is using his corrupt nephew, the Supervisor of Elections [SOE] Saneem to lodge complaints against members of the opposition. Like Niko Nawaikula, but that failed. Saneem has recently filed complaints with the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) against Fiji Labour Party Leader Mahendra Chaudhry and Unity Fiji Party leader Savenaca Narube. This basically removes the two men from the 2022 elections. It will no doubt upset their party faithful, who, understandably, could feel like venting their frustrations in some form of protest. Many more dirty tactics can be expected, so the dictatorship has rolled out its puppet Qiliho [or is it Quilty-ho] to scare people away from venting their anger and frustrations that could even lead to an uprising to remove the highly disliked dictatorship by force, like in 1987, 2000 and 2006. But if the corrupt Khaiyum-led Bainimarama govt is not willing to give up power, then what options do the people have. IF only we had a brave Opposition, like those seen overseas standing up to tyrants, risking their lives, unafraid and less concerned with their self-preservation, status and high salaries. IF only. Qiliho also said that the security landscape should not be used as a political football. Wow!! What a hypocrite!! Clearly, another non-merit appointment. Fijivillage.com reported that the Minister for everything, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had said that they [which really means himself, because he dictates everything, even what the clueless PM Bainimarama says and does] will have consistency in its policies and that consistency will continue if they are in Government.
But given Fiji's broke status, from 16 years of Khaiyum's failed policies, with its highest levels of unemployment, the highest cost of living, the highest poverty, the highest levels of corruption and nepotism, low levels of investments, and no rule of law etc., we wonder what kind of idiot would want more consistency with such bad polices. Well, the answer would be anyone benefiting from Khaiyum's policies. Sayed-Khaiyum made the comment while responding to a question by Naisoso Island Developer, Bob Lowry who had asked if the government can give unconditional assurance if policies such as the removal of stamp duty and other incentives for real estate businesses will continue. He's convinced there is a boom coming in real estate, as he has been in the business for 45 years and has seen the ups and the downs. Lowry is worried that when they sell their apartments, they will be leaving themselves exposed. Remember, this is the same Naisoso island development where Khaiyum’s mother, Latifa, managed to purchase a couple of beachfront properties for OVER a million dollars each before heading off to New Zealand to live and sponge off the Kiwi taxpayers. See Michael Field's blog. Apparently, no money changed hands, which suggests a bribe for services. Click HERE and HERE to read more. fbcnews reported that Fiji's megalomaniac and illegal Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said that civil servants needed to change their attitude towards their job. He was responding to concerns raised by a resident of Nausori, who stated that his child was not seen by the doctors at the Nausori Health Center because they were on a shift change. Similar concerns had been raised by residents of Sigatoka.
“It’s an attitudinal issue", claimed Khaiyum, "and that’s why constantly when we talk about getting the right people for the right job, making sure that people are disciplined, making sure that people do their job, if they don’t do their job – they should be disciplined. That’s the reason why we say that. And sometimes when we do say that, people get all up in arms. They think once they become a civil servant, you don’t need accountability. You need to have accountability.” Oh really! So when will Khaiyum and Fiji's most non-essential worker, the murderer PM Frank Bainimarama, do the same and change their attitudes and become accountable for their actions? Like the missing $400 million reported by the Auditor General, the failed fishing and sugar industries, or Khaiyum bringing the Delta variant into Fiji that killed over 1200 Fijians, or the human rights violations, or the removal of the GCC and rigged elections, corruption and nepotism? And when will they be disciplined? The Naboro Hilton is a good start for the pair of them. Both Khaiyum and Bainimarama have set a low standard of leadership over the past 16 years and established an environment rife with corruption, arrogance, lies, theft, nepotism, intimidation and no rule of law. Their egos, corruption, mismanagement and incompetence have ruined Fiji, creating a desperate and depressing environment for both civil servants and the oppressed people alike. They have taken no responsibility for their failed leadership. Current civil servant attitudes are a direct reflection of where we are in Fiji's society today, under a broke and failed dictatorship. So when Sayed-Khaiyum points a finger and tells civil servants and doctors that they have a bad “attitude”, it means that he has failed to understand the responsibility that comes along with being a leader. That the bad “attitude” really does reflect his poor leadership. He better look in the mirror if he is upset at the way that the civil servants are working, because civil servants weren't born that way. They learned that behaviour from their leaders or because it's the accepted way of doing things. Either way, their attitude and actions are a direct reflection of Sayed-Khaiyum and Bainimarama's poor leadership. So the fastest way to change attitudes is to change the leadership. fijivillage.com reported that National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad had said that it is utterly shameful that the FijiFirst government ministers have formed a conga line behind their master who is the Attorney-General and Economy Minister, and are making a beeline for the people using valuable taxpayers funds when for more than three years they were enjoying the luxury in their ivory towers.
These visits are pure electioneering, with the declaration of the official campaign period only 6 weeks away. Now the ministers have suddenly found time, energy and resources to “scurry all over the country like squeaking, hissing and chattering rats”, says Prof Prasad. And the Economy Minister’s whirlwind tour from Ba to Sigatoka over the previous weekend proves why his consultations are not about the people. Yes, the consultation was all for show, especially when the AG did most of the talking and not much listening. Then he threw a hissy-fit when people raised issues about his incompetent government's poor services, "ludicrously labelling them as being Prof Prasad’s friends". This is so childish, but it's how Khaiyum reacts whenever his fragile ego is bruised! The Agriculture and Commerce Ministers are behaving like Santa Claus, says Prof Prasad, and the Education Minister is bending rules set by her own ministry, which requires teachers to stay in their classes during school hours, by getting her officers to call individual school heads to release teachers, during school hours, to attend her gatherings, continued Prof Prasad. Yes, it's election year again, and so the corrupt government ministers are out and about lying to the people and handing out free stuff in an obvious attempt to buy votes. But remember, this is the same corrupt Fiji First government that made fancy promises in two previous elections in 2014 and 2018, and never delivered! They were going to make Fiji like Singapore - not even close! Then they were going to make Fiji better than Australia and New Zealand, but only managed to achieve more covid cases, so they falsified the data and reduced the number of daily tests to show lower numbers. Fiji is also broke from 16 years of corruption, mismanagement, incompetence and lies, so it must now beg Australia, New Zealand and the international community for donations. This is the legacy of the failed Fiji First Bainimarama government. We agree with Prof Prasad, and people need to remember this when they vote. That it is utterly shameful that the FijiFirst government ministers are now doing another conga line behind their corrupt master the AG Sayed-Khaiyum using valuable taxpayers funds to buy votes. Especially, when for more than three years they were enjoying the luxury of their ivory towers, while we the people suffered from the highest cost of living, the highest unemployment, the highest poverty, high crime, curfews, and forced to use our own retirement savings because government had no money, and an open border that brought covid to Fiji that resulted in high covid cases, over a 1000 per day, and over 1200 deaths of our loved ones. Remember this when you vote! FBC news reported that the Minister for Education Premila Kumar had confirmed that two teachers had been terminated over allegations of inflicting corporal punishment.
The Fijian Teachers Association General Secretary Paula Manumanunitoga said that the sacking was unwarranted and done without due diligence. Remember, however, that 5 loyal CRW soldiers were brutally tortured and murdered by Bainimarama in Nov 2000 without trial, judge or jury! In December 2006, Bainimarama also assaulted men and women at the QEB military camp because they had objected to his military coup and the removal of the last democratically elected Qarase government. Bainimarama had carried out his coup, with the help of gullible and stupid senior military officers, to avoid being arrested and imprisoned for his heinous crimes. Here's what true courage and bravery against a larger force and bully looks like, when fighting to defend your beloved country and people!
The Ukrainian border guards refused to surrender. A video purporting to be from the Ukrainian ship captured a sailor saying "we f****** hit them". The second man then says, "Russian warship, go f*** yourself". This is a key ingredient missing from Fiji's weak and self-serving opposition, who are easily intimidated and draw the line at self-preservation. But they're more than happy to continue receiving their high taxpayer funded salaries and perks without doing anything productive to improve the lives of the oppressed people who are forced to live in the misery and continue to suffer. Click HERE to read more. This is how women are treated when the country is run by a lunatic, corrupt, megalomaniac and failed lawyer! And the moronic dictator PM is a few cans short of a six-pack!
In September 2021, Fiji's dictatorship passed the Electoral Registration of Voters Amendment Bill which requires people applying to register to vote to state their full name as specified in their birth certificate. A copy of their birth certificate is also required. The bill was passed after an hour's debate. One must remember that his is Fiji where members of the opposition live with the real fear of being arrested, beaten or imprisoned on trumped-up charges for daring to debate or speak out strongly against the dictatorship, including highlighting any of its lies and shortcomings. [This is a given under the current climate, hence the need for fearless and brave candidates who put the needs of the oppressed people before their self-preservation, like those seen fearlessly protesting in other countries]. The Amendment Bill came about after the megalomaniac AG Sayed-Khaiyum lost in the Court of Disputed Returns in his attempt to remove outspoken MP Niko Nawaikula from parliament. Nawaikula was registered on the electoral roll, as he had done in past elections, using the name he is known by – Niko Nawaikula. This is not the name on his birth certificate. So, the Supervisor of Elections, Khaiyum’s nephew, issued him a notice. Unimpressed with Nawaikula’s answer, the Supervisor then struck him off the electoral roll. This caused Nawaikula to lose his seat in parliament. Nawaikula took his case to court and won. The failed lawyer Sayed-khaiyum then threw a hissy-fit and berated his staff and lawyers, accusing the court and legal counsel of not considering the practical implications of such a strict literal reading of the law. Yeah right! Former Supervisor of Elections and constitutional lawyer, Jon Apted queried the legal basis for anyone to register using the name on their birth certificate under any of the electoral acts. It seems that the failed lawyer and failed to understand the process for changing laws and had failed to amend all relevant acts. Apted said that the new laws are arbitrary because there is no justification for it. In February 2022, seven women filed a constitutional challenge against the Electoral Registration of Voters Amendment Act and the Interpretation Act on the grounds of sex, gender and marital status discrimination and also on the basis that it violates the privacy and social and cultural identity of the 100,000 Fijian women also affected by the act. Veronica Malani continues her fight for justice against a corrupt system run by Fiji's AG Sayed-Khaiyum, who is running from the law and applying every nasty, dirty, trick in an attempt to stop Malani's case against him.
This includes using his pathetic and corrupt buddy the DPP Christopher Pryde to rule there was no case to answer despite the eyewitnesses, to delaying hearings and using police and military thugs to apply fear and intimidation tactics against her and her family, to manipulating the system in his favour. But this brave lady Veronica Malani and her family have stood their ground, unafraid, and still determined to march on until justice is served. Remember, this is a fight not only for justice for Malani, but also for the rest of us, the oppressed, especially if the rule of law prevails [through public pressure] and Sayed-Khaiyum is found guilty and charged. Imagine that outcome! The people need to rally together behind this case, insist on the rule of law and apply pressure. fijivillage.com reported that the Fiji police have tested the sewer system to find out where there is a high consumption of meth & cocaine.
According to Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho the police have conducted scientific tests on the sewer systems in Fiji, and they now know where there has been a high consumption of methamphetamine and cocaine. In August 2021, FijiLeaks reported that former acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu had resigned because he refused to close a drug case against dictator Frank Bainimarama's son Meli. Police officers had found drugs following a break-in at the dictator's Kiuva Residence. But to date, Meli has not been charged, and walks free! Back in August 2019, an associate of Fiji's corrupt AG Sayed-Khaiyum, Shazran Abdul Lateef was charged with possession of illicit drugs following a Police raid. This was not his first time, he was already on bail for previous charges. Despite this, he continued to be granted bail, at least 6 times, by the court run by Khaiyum. And now, we have the police resorting to testing sewer systems for drugs, when they already know who the key drug players are, but do nothing constructive to actually stop them or the flow of drugs! The Fiji Sun published the latest Public Opinion Polls. It shows that dictator Frank Bainimarama's rating has fallen by 6.9 points, down to 23.2% This is a significant issue, because it also means that 76.8% of Fijians don't support Bainimarama.
Delaibatiki, however, decided to side-step this main issue and focused instead on Qavoka's small gains, claiming that they may not be enough to keep Qavoka on as SODELPA's Party Leader. |
