October 2022Why is there so much support for Richard Naidu, but not for Aman Ravindra Singh and Veronica Malani?
Prof Wadan Narsey in his article Shameful silences at another unfolding tragedy in Fiji highlights the shameful public tragedy unfolding before us as the Bainimarama Government tries to stop a potential political candidate, Richard Naidu, from getting into parliament by trying to criminalise him over a trivial social media post" in which he corrected an incompetent judge's spelling in a legal judgement. The malevolent forces running the Bainimarama Government, says Prof Narsey, suddenly pounced on Naidu five months later, because he had become a target when there were indications that he might be a candidate for the Opposition NFP party. If convicted, Naidu would not be allowed to be a candidate in the 2022 elections, he might also face jail time and be deprived of legal practice. What's interesting is that Fiji's top legal brains, the Law Society and the international legal community have thrown their weight and support behind Naidu. Wow! This is fantastic. But why only Naidu's case? There has been no public support, only silence, from these groups when Aman Ravindra Singh, Veronica Malani and others faced similar shenanigans in Sayed-Khaiyum's corrupt courts. Singh had to flee for his life to Australia, while Veronica Malani is still being harassed as she waits for the Court of Appeal to provide her with a date to hear her case against Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, for his role in the bombing incident in 1987 in Suva that injured Veronica and almost killed her late Mother. What's important to note, is that a win for Malani has the potential to benefit the whole nation, because it would mean that Sayed-Khaiyum is not allowed to be a candidate in the 2022 elections. Sayed-Khaiyum, like Naidu, might then face jail time and be deprived of his lucrative, corrupt, illegal practices. Imagine that!! What a wonderful image! So it beggars belief that the Law Society and our top lawyers have not thrown their legal minds, weight and support behind Malani. Most people in Fiji with half a brain already know that we are being run by a corrupt dictatorship that imposed it's illegal 2013 Constitution and rigged two elections to remain in power. So, it's paramount, that after 16 years of oppression the people do come together to utilise their collective brain power, skills and resources, to help each other win against Sayed-Khaiyum in his corrupt courts and also help to remove the Bainimarama government from power. After all, we are all fighting the same war, against the same corrupt, megalomaniac enemy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and his puppet Frank JV Bainimarama. fijivillage.com reported that the Fijian Elections Office had referred the People’s Alliance Deputy Party Leaders Lynda Tabuya and Dan Lobendahn to FICAC for probable breaches of Sections 114, Section 116(3)(h) and Section 140 of the Electoral Act.
The supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum's nephew, stated that the complaints arose from responses received from Lynda Tabuya and the People’s Alliance in relation to Rock The Vote Fiji. Saneem went on to say that Rock The Vote Fiji had engaged in activities that were direct campaign for individuals from People’s Alliance, and Tabuya had confirmed that by virtue of her funding and creating the organisation. BUT when the FijiFirst Party installs its banner on the Suva City Council car park, in direct campaign for individuals from the FFP, which is a direct breach of the Electoral Act, there is NO referral of FFP to FICAC by Saneem. What a hypocrite! The corrupt Fijian Elections Office only directed the FijiFirst party and the Suva City Council to remove the campaign material from the Suva Civic Carpark. And gave them until 4pm Friday to do so, failing which the Supervisor of Elections would consider further action according to the Electoral Act 2014. What a joke! So why weren't Lynda Tabuya and Dan Lobendahn offered a similar ruling? To stop whatever they were doing by a certain date. No chance. Because this is Fiji, where there is CLEARLY one rule for the corrupt FijiFirst Party dictatorship, and another rule for the rest of us. The Fiji 2022 Elections is not a Free and Fair exercise! The Fiji First government is a dictatorship focused on holding on to power by any means possible - by hook or by crook. Only a blind, stupid, retarded, fool would think otherwise. Veronica Malani went to court to get justice, for herself and her family against Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum [who also happens to be the Attorney General] for his role in a bombing incident in 1987 in Suva that injured Veronica and almost killed her late Mother, and "Justice delayed is justice denied".
Unfortunately, the judicial system in Fiji is not quite independent, with reports that the corrupt Attorney General is accustomed to manipulating the courts to his biding. With evidence from Five witnesses, one would reasonably think that it should have been an easy argument, hearing and a quick pronouncement of Justice. Especially if it's a judicial system that cares only about evidences and facts. Right? Apparently not! The Sayed-Khaiyum appointed DPP Christopher Pryde ignored the five witnesses and dictated that no charges would be laid against his boss. Malani’s case was then heard at the Suva High Court by the Sayed-Khaiyum appointed Acting Chief Justice, Kamal Kumar. Now she waits to be given a date for her case to be heard by the Sayed-Khaiyum appointed Fiji Court of Appeal. Malani refuses to be intimidated. She wants justice, and will not go away! The Fiji times reports the FIJIFIRST party general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, who is also the Attorney General and Minister for Elections and a host of other ministerial portfolios, questioning how holding the Minister for Elections portfolio was a conflict of interest.
“How is that conflict of interest? Please I’ll make you start thinking because the media plays a very important role to play in terms of disseminating information. As we’ve said previously-prior to 2007, the previous elections we had in 2006 and in 20001, the leader of SDL Laisenia Qarase was the minister responsible for elections and he was also the leader of SDL, did anybody say it was a conflict?.” What Sayed-Khaiyum did not say is that there is a big difference between his corrupt practices and Qarase who never tried to manipulate or influence the elections, which were run by highly intelligent and qualified people of high moral standards and ethics under an independent elections' office. These high standard of qualifications and level of independence don't exist today, not under the corrupt and incompetent Supervisor of Elections Saneem, who is also Sayed-Khaiyum's nephew. So it's definitely a conflict of interest when it comes to Sayed-Khaiyum being Minister of Elections while also Secretary General of the governing FijiFirst party and a candidate in the elections. Especially when Sayed-Khaiyum and his hand-puppet Bainimarama need to remain in power to avoid being arrested and sent to prison for their crimes that include treason, murder, and corruption. This means that it is in Sayed-Khaiyum's interest that he again manipulate his nephew the SOE and the election's office to rig the next elections. And why not, he already rigged the last two elections, and got away with it, for now, even removing opposition candidates from contesting, including the late Qarase on trumped-up charges. Prof Wardan Narsey writes in his article “Fiji Voters and the 2022 Elections" [Sep 29 2022 and FT 30 Sep 2022] that the two major candidates vying for Prime Ministership at the next elections, both former coup leaders, are Sitiveni Rabuka of the Peoples’ Alliance Party [PAP], who did the country’s first 1987 coup, and Frank Voreqe Bainimarama from the Fiji First Party [FFP], who led the 2006 coup.
Rabuka's PAP and its opposition partner, the National Federation Party (NFP) led by former USP academic, Professor Biman Prasad, have been doing extremely well in opinion polls, says Prof Narsey, before the Polls were stopped from publication by the Bainimarama Govt, they were also drawing big crowds to their campaign gatherings. The PAP and NFP are expected to win, and if the polls are correct then it should be by a landslide victory. However, it is also expected that the corrupt Bainimarama Govt will apply every dirty trick in the book to remain in power, including rigging the election, again! So, to improve their chances of wining, the Bainimarama Govt, run by the corrupt and conniving megalomaniac AG Sayed-Khaiyum, has brought in all sorts of electoral regulations and rules which severely restrict Opposition parties and candidates. This is extremely worrying, says Prof Narsey, one strange law requires the Opposition parties to show exactly how their manifestos would be funded, with Sayed-Khaiyum's hand-picked Supervisor of Elections, his nephew, ready to initiate charges over any deficiencies. On the behest of the corrupt AG Sayed-Khaiyum Fiji's Independent [NOT] Commission Against Corruption [FICAC] has already taken opposition PM's to court, over financial claims of housing allowances, that have led to their convictions, making them ineligible to stand in the next elections. A prominent lawyer is currently in court over a five month old Facebook post, that allegedly has brought disrepute to the judiciary because it corrected the incompetent judge's spelling. By no stretch of the imagination is the 2022 election going to be free and fair. Click HERE to read Prof Narsey's article. It looks like SODELPA MP Mosese Bulitavu and the former co-leader of the Fiji United Freedom Party Nayagodamu Korovou, a teacher with the Latter Day Saints in Fiji, are campaigning hard to join the corrupt Fiji First Party at the next General Elections.
Their desperation is visible in their ridiculous Facebook posts in support of everything Fiji First. This is despite FijiFirst's 16-year record of corruption, lies, failed economic policies, no rule of law, land theft, Rigged Elections, no human rights, no freedom of the press, 17 Decrees against native Fijians, and much, much more. Bulitavu and Korovou take "Masi Polo" and "Ass-Kissing" to a new level. |
