It is too common in Fiji to point fingers at other people and run them down, while ignoring ones own faults. This is not unique to Fiji but it has become more pronounced in Fiji since the bainimarama coup of 2006. The dictator of Fiji, Frank Bainimarama, who is also holding the country hostage at gun point has been pointing out everyone's faults, while ignoring his own crimes of sedition, murder, treason, corruption, theft, bashing unarmed women and miss mangement of Fiji's economy, to name just a few of bainimarama's ills. Now he has reared his evil childish trait again and amended Decree 57, demanding accountability from the Commission and wants it to publish details of the names of everyone on its staff and the salaries they are getting. Meanwhile, bainimarama refuses to reveal the salaries of himself and his illegal cabinet. Bainimaramahas has also refused to publish government accounts and financial reports which have been withheld from public scrutiny since 2008 and refuses to call tenders for public contracts and the procurement of goods and supplies. There are a lot of indigenous Fijian and hindi words for this type of person - you pick one. Bainimarama says Ratu Joni’s presence among the Bau delegation was a breach of the decree. Section 13 (1) (a&c) of the Decree calls for the Commissioners and its Executive Secretary to observe the values and principles set out as “non negotiables” in section 3 of the Decree and requires them to be “politically neutral”. The humour continues here as we all see that bainimarama is the main culprit in these sorts of illegal activities - but he picks on everyone else, like he is a saint - he is not! Some have suggested that bainimarama is satan's little servant. Don't forget, bainimarama is also running from the law and any truly free and fair democratically elected government will see bainimarma and his junta arrested and imprisoned. So binimarama is doing do all he can to manipulate the process to avoid arrest and imprisonment.
